Timothy Lee Hickman passed away on October 23, 2024, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.

Tim dedicated 38 years of his life to his career a machinist at Marathon Electric, a role held with pride and commitment. In addition to his vocational achievements, he spent 10 years as a volunteer fireman, exemplifying his spirit of service and community involvement.

Tim’s journey through life included a distinguished military service. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1965 and was stationed in the Philippines as a Military Police officer for two years, later transferring to Vietnam. His time in service was marked by bravery; in April 1968, he endured grave injuries during combat, yet he was one of six survivors among the 26 American servicemen evacuated by helicopter after their aircraft was struck. His courage and resilience in the face of adversity were reflective of his character.

Tim fondly recalled moments from his youth, including visiting his future wife, Mildred Shegonee, while she was waitressing at The Log Cabin, proudly wearing his military uniform. They were married in Wausau in 1968.

His legacy continues through the many memories shared with his family. He was actively involved in coaching his children's sports teams, sharing his love for the game. His passion for athletics extended beyond coaching; he was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching sports, particularly his favorite teams, the Brewers and the Packers. Tim also embraced outdoor activities, loving to golf and hunt, most notably the time spent at the hunting shack with his son and family.

Family gatherings brought Tim immense joy. He cherished time spent joking around with his grandchildren, who adored him and filled his life with laughter and love. His humorous spirit was complemented by his frequent visits to Cliff's, where he enjoyed gambling and engaging with friends, as well as his time at Tri City Family Restaurant, a local favorite.

Tim leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication to family and community. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Brenda Trantow, Weston, Marsha Hickman (Travis Neitzke), Weston, and Mark (Jennifer) Hickman, Elk River, MN; grandchildren, Mercedes (Alex) Trantow, Jacob Trantow, Timothy (TJ) Gascoigne, Grace (Caiden) Hickman, McKinsey, Jaden, Jessie, and Benjamin Hickman; great-grandchildren, Greyson Lemanski, Evelynn Gascoigne, and Eric Willcocks. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred Hickman, brothers, Eugene, Terry and Larry Hickman; and sister, Lisa Rothrock.
