Sue Ann Ziebell passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, following a short but strong-fought battle with leukemia at the age of 62. A lifelong resident of Wausau, she was born November 21, 1962, to the late George and Shirley (Rohrer) Brandenburg. Sue graduated from Wausau East High School in 1981.
After high school, she attended college in Brainerd, MN, with a degree in floral design. She worked for many years at Krueger Floral Wholesale. For a short period of time, she opened and owned Balloons Galore, Wausau.
On August 27, 1994, Sue married Scott R. Ziebell at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau. They later had two children, Ethan and Zachary. Her grandson, Landen, was her greatest love.
Sue’s love for arranging flowers continued throughout her life as she made flowers for so many weddings, proms, anniversaries and other occasions. She cleaned oncology patient rooms at Aspirus Hospital Wausau for many years and was honored to be part of the patients’ lives. One time she heard of a family who had nothing for Christmas and Sue brought together donations of gifts and food for their holiday.
Sue was an expert and talented sewer and known by all to have a generous heart. Making tree skirts for wedding gifts, baby quilts for showers, and table runners for every holiday. She had her own fabric store at her home with patterns throughout. Most recently, she made 15 quilts for Hospice patients. She was a member of the Pine Tree Quilters Guild for more than 20 years.
When Sue was not sewing, in which she did daily, she enjoyed playing bingo and the slots. She also enjoyed listening to the music performances in downtown Wausau. Her generosity and heart of gold will be missed.
She is survived by her sons, Ethan of Wausau, and Zachary (Kaleb) of North Dakota; grandson, Landen; two sisters, Beth (John) Sterzinger of Wausau and Lori Carter of Florida; niece, Sydney of Florida; and many cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. Sue was joined in eternal life by her husband, Scott Ziebell, who passed away on March 24, 2025.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the loving care they provided Sue.
