Scott Richard Ziebell

Scott Richard Ziebell passed away on Monday, March 24th, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Scott was born in Wausau on July 16th, 1957, to Richard and Nancy (Pagel) Ziebell.

After high school, Scott worked for the Marathon County Sheriff Department as a reserve deputy for nearly 30 years, leaving the force in 2006. He also owned Alarms of Wausau.

On August 27, 1994, Scott married Sue A. Brandenburg at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau. Shortly after they welcomed their first son, Ethan, and later, Zachary.

Scott was a dedicated member of the Wausau Elks Lodge 248 for 34 years. He was given the nickname “The Loose Cannon” as you would never know what he was going to say. He served the Elks as trustee two different terms. In 2001, Scott was named Elk of the Year at the lodge. Scott and Sue were honored as Couple of the Year in 2002.

Most recently, Scott worked at Sam’s Club for 10 years where he interacted and become close with so many people in the Wausau and surrounding areas.

He is survived by his sons, Ethan of Wausau, and Zachary (Kaleb) of North Dakota; grandson, Landen of Wausau; father, Richard of Wausau; brothers, Kim Ziebell of Oregon and Todd (Betty) Ziebell of Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother; and wife, Sue Ziebell, who passed away on March 19, 2025.

The family would like to thank the Cardiac ICU and Palliative Care Departments at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the compassion and dedication to Scott.

A Memorial Service for Scott & Sue Ziebell will be held in Summer 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau.

Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Weston is assisting the Ziebell family with arrangements. Service announcements will be provided by the funeral home at www.ascendweston.org.
