Hatley

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nathan John Halama, who left this world far too soon on March 2, 2025, at the age of 46. Nathan was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, and a true leader to many.

Born on June 22, 1978, to Rita and John Halama, Nathan dedicated his life to the pursuit of excellence, discipline, and the betterment of others. His passion for Taekwondo began at the young age of 5, and through decades of unwavering dedication, he achieved the rank of Kukkiwon 7th Dan Black Belt, Jidokwan 9th Dan Black Belt, and was also recognized as a Kukkiwon Master Instructor. Alongside his wife, Jessica, he co-owned and operated Halama’s Championship Martial Arts, where together they built a legacy of strength, confidence, and perseverance. Nathan was more than an instructor—he was a mentor, a role model, and a guiding force for countless students. His leadership extended far beyond martial arts, shaping the character of those he taught and inspiring them to reach their full potential in every aspect of life.

On May 13, 2023, Nathan married the love of his life, Jessica Ann Kilty. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared a bond filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Nathan was a devoted and proud father to his six children: Cadence, Victoria, Quentin, Cameron, Chael, and Charlotte. He cherished every moment with them, whether it was teaching them life lessons, sharing his passion for martial arts, or simply enjoying time together as a family.

Beyond his love for Taekwondo, Nathan had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the thrill of adventure. He found peace in camping with family, riding his motorcycle, flying helicopters, and traveling with Jessica. He especially enjoyed trips to Hawaii, and to Orlando for martial arts conventions.  He led not only with his words but through his actions, demonstrating the values of hard work, integrity, and perseverance in everything he did.

Nathan is survived by his loving wife, Jessica Ann Halama; his six children, Cadence Kilty, Victoria Halama, Quentin Halama, Cameron Kilty, Chael Kilty, and Charlotte Kilty; his parents, John and Rita Halama; his sister, Kristen Halama; and many other beloved family members, friends, and taekwondo students who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his infant child, a loss that profoundly affected him and shaped his journey through life.
