Linda Diane Tilton, cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed from this life on March 7, 2025 at the age of 77. She left a legacy of unyielding kindness, generosity and compassion to everyone around her.
Linda had an unconditional love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, they were her life and there was never a day that she didn't brag about them to anyone who would listen. She loved animals, birds, baking and cooking for others, music, singing, dancing, camping and the Packers. She was happiest while surrounded by her family and friends. Linda had many pets from the Humane Society because she just went there to look.
Linda, with her youthful spirit and beautiful smile, will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched. As her 23 And Me results showed, her 100 percent Finnish heritage not only made her a rare and beautifully unique person, but also one of the most stubborn you will have ever met. She was the definition of the Finnish word SISU.
Linda grew up in Hurley, WI and the Upper Peninsula of MI. She spent most of her life in the Wausau area. From a J.E. Murphy High School Prom Queen, she bypassed higher education and went straight into the workforce as a compassionate caregiver while raising her four children - a career she was passionate about and extremely proud to be a part of. She was a highly sought after caregiver in her community.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Leonard Tilton, in 1991; dear friend, Kirk Bender in 2019; grandson, Justin Selves; brother, Everett Nasi; niece, Connie Huebner; and her beloved dog, Muffin.
Linda is survived by her children, Debbra (Todd) Selves, Ron (Diane) Miller, Jennifer (Jay) Buckingham, and Guy Tilton; sister, Cynthia (John) Wilson; sister in-law, Jan Nasi; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephew.
At Linda's request, there will be no funeral service. She wished to be remembered for her warmth and kindness and genuine hugs to her family and friends. Rest easy mom, we love you more.
The family would like to thank Aspirus Home Care Team, Hospice House of Wausau as well as Ascend Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Weston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marathon County Humane Society or New Life Pet Adoption Center, Marathon.
